Project Description

Project Owner: WaterCare NZ.
Head Contractor: McConnell Dowell.
Project Contractor: Parkinson and Holland Ltd.
Project Scope: Global Pipe supplied and assisted with logistics for a HOBAS CC-GRP DN400/DN650 Jacking Pipe project in the west of central Auckland.

The Head Contractor McDonnell Dowell managed the project to upgrade the existing wastewater infrastructure in the Glen Eden area to reduce the number of overflows that occur following periods of prolonged heavy rain.

Pipe Supply and Logistics

Global Pipe supplied HOBAS CC-GRP pipe to enable the construction of a 1km pipeline. HOBAS CC-GRP Jacking Pipe was installed at 10 metres deep with the use of Parkinson and Hollands Vameer Axis Guided Boring System. HOBAS CC-GRP was chosen as the preferred GRP Jacking Pipe due to its history of successful projects in the country. The new transmission sewer running along Glendale Road is 10 m deep, and installing a pipeline at that depth had the potential to cause major disruption to local residents and the public.
